Funtimes back at KTLA for another culinary segment. This time it was all about apples. Did you know there are over 7000 apple varieties in the world? And over 2500 in the United States? I was super lucky (thank you Melissas Produce) to get my hands on the Hidden Rose varietal to share with the viewers. The Hidden Rose was discovered in the Pacific Northwest in the 60’s and while it looks like a regular light red apple the inside is a gorgeous fuschia color. During the segment I also covered the granny smith apple, the Lady Rose, the Crimson Golds and Ambrosias. Recipes included Apple Spiced Pancake with Apple Compote, Apple Gouda cheeseball wrapped in roasted and spiced pecans, Apple Relish, Stuffed Apples with a brown sugar drizzle and the Apple Noodle Healthnut Bowl.
