Henry’s Hard Soda sent over a few of their new 2016 flavors and challenged us to create a cocktail. First some Henry Hard stats, the taste test and then the delicious sweet ice cream cocktail details. Henry’s Hard Orange Soda has 4.2% alcohol and is made with cane sugar by the folks at Blitz-Weinhard Brewing Co. It has a refreshing light orange flavor and I highly recommend pouring it into a glass over ice. It reminded me of an orange soda because you really can’t taste the alcohol. I do wish the orange flavor stood out more because I really wanted it to taste different than all the other orange alcoholic beverages.
We started throwing out different recipe ideas and since we all just finished dinner we were craving something sweet. We had ice cream and vodka and the more we talked about milkshakes the more we wanted something rich and creamy and alcoholic. The Henry’s Hard Orange Ice Cream Cocktail was born! We replaced the orange sherbert with Henry’s Hard Orange Soda and to give it an extra kick added a blood orange liqueur. Remember the creamsicle creamy popsicle or those little 4oz cups of orange and vanilla swirled ice cream that came with the teeny weenie wooden spoon? It was the perfect mix of vanilla and tangy orange flavors. Well, this milkshake concoction took us back to those times of chasing the ice cream truck to get our hands on a dreamsicle.
Check out our step by step recipe guide. You can always add more alcohol and amp it up a bit. Cheers!
