Sometimes when sugar cravings set in, it’s just best to give in. My weakness is cake but after making these chocolate chip cookies, in which I had no idea would turn out so well, my weaknesses have shifted. But not for all cookies just these cookies ha ha ha ha. I never crave chocolate and actually never crave cookies but I had all the ingredients to whip up some dough and the sweet craving was setting in so I thought I’d give it a shot. BULLSEYE!!!!! Let’s start baking.
INGREDIENTS:
1 1/2 cups of flour
1/2 tsp of baking soda
1 stick of butter (room temp)
1 cup of sugar
1/4 tsp of sea salt
1 whole egg
1 tsp of pure vanilla extract
Semi Sweet Chocolate Chips (I didn’t measure I just started adding into the dough) I really think you can eyeball this one.
We’re gonna start by sifting the flour and baking soda. If you don’t have an actual sifter you can use a wire mesh strainer and a large measuring bowl to sift the goods into. Why sift? As you can see in the pic below the flour looks really light and soft. By sifting ingredients together it allows them to mix more evenly. Have you ever bitten into a cookie and there’s a little morsel of flour? Yeah? Me too! So START SIFTING and that will never happen again. I swear it makes everything a bit more fluffier.
Okay set the sifted flour aside and let’s cream up the butter. Add room temp butter to your mixer.
Look at the pretty butter flower. Oh, use the paddle not the wire wisk!
After you get the butter all smooth go ahead and add the sugar and mix
Then add the salt and the pure vanilla extract. Mix up the butter, salt, sugar and vanilla so all four are combined
Go ahead and drop in an egg and hit the go button again to combine the egg with the buttery sugar mix.
Now it’s time to add in the sifted flour. Just add a little bit at a time until everything is blended together. Don’t over beat!
This is what your masterpiece should look like. Go ahead! take a little bite. It’s delicious. Now, I understand why people love cookie dough.
We’re gonna add in the chocolate chips and carefully mix it into the dough using a spatula or spoon. You can use semi sweet chips, butterscotch chips, vanilla chips, milk chocolate chips….geez, you could go crazy and add a bit of all of them. Your kitchen is your artistic safe space 🙂 There are no rules! okay that only applies to chocolate chips.
If you have parchment paper then line your baking pans. If not, spray the sheets with non stick cooking spray. I like to use a mini scooper to make my cookies because it keeps things consistent and everything will bake evenly. If you want bigger cookies use a regular ice cream scooper.
Bake the cookies for 350 degrees for 11 minutes.
Oh yeah…they taste as good as they look. Little crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. Things just got crazy in my kitchen because I can’t stop eating these cookies. Super simple to make and even easier to eat. Be kind and share ha ha ha ha ha.
