Exotic Ice Cream Flavors at Helados Pops

August 19, 2017 by Kimlai Yingling

Isn’t it always a good time for ice cream?

Helados Pops is a two-year-old family-owned ice cream shop located in San Fernando Valley creating exotic ice cream flavors like lucuma, sugar corn, mamey, cashew nut and sour sop. I know those flavors don’t roll right off the tongue and sound a bit foreign, but to taste those flavors is definitely worth the drive to Helados. Experimenting is always a good thing and I recommend trying every single one 🙂 They serve traditional flavors as well that are just as delicious like raw cocoa, strawberry, cookies and cream, vanilla, coconut and a variety of sorbets. Oh, one of my favorites was the coffee ice cream. It’s rich, creamy and tasty.

Making ice cream has been in the family for 6 generations. They source ingredients from local farmers markets and make small batch ice cream with love. The main attraction, aside from the ridiculously tasty exotic flavor creations, is their coconut bowl sundae. You can get scoops in a cup, waffle cone or a sundae in a pineapple, too. Though, I highly recommend customizing your own coconut sundae. They crack open the coconut with a machete and shred the inside with their nifty shredder tool and then put that goodness right back in the coconut shell. It’s like a mounds bar, which is a 5 then filled with Helados ice cream and toppings makes it a 10, okay maybe 15. GENIUS! Watch the video below and then grab your keys and head over to Helados.
