CRACK Brownies: Plain Jane, Sugar High and Caramel Delight

November 26, 2019 by Kimlai Yingling

Happy Holidays everyone. I was trying to think of a recipe that smells good, tastes good, looks good and that I could use all my tasty Florida Crystals® Fwith. BROWNIES were the first thing that came to mind but not just regular brownies, I had to make three different kinds of brownies. All the brownies have the same foundation which is cakey, rich and very chocolatey (already winning!!!) but where things get fun is in the toppers. The “Plain Jane” is topped with roasted coconut shreds and walnuts. The “Sugar High” is topped with a brown sugar butter frosting, coconut shreds and roasted walnuts and the “Caramel Delight” is drizzled with golden caramel and roasted walnuts. I love the variety and it’s so simple and lets your creative juices flow. Party time in the kitch!

I used three types of organic raw Florida Crystals® Fsugars for this recipe, brown, cane and powdered.

All available plus some at grocery stores everywhere.

squares
Ingredients
  • 1/2 cup butter room temp
  • 1 tbsp Canola Oil
  • 1/2 cup Florida Crystals Raw Organic white sugar
  • 1/2 cup Florida Crystals Raw Organic brown sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 1/2 tsp coconut extract
  • 1/2 tsp Vanilla extract
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1/2 cup All Purpose Flour
  • 1/2 cup Unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1/2 tsp cayenne pepper
  • 5 oz. semi sweet chocolate chips
  • 1/2 cup coconut shreds Add half to the mix and the other half to the top so they roast up during baking
  • 1/2 cup roasted walnuts Either add to the mix or as a topper
  • Caramel Sauce Drizzle on top right before you serve
Instructions
  1. Preheat oven to 350 degree
  2. Beat the butter, sugars and oil together in your mixer until combined.
  3. Add the eggs and extracts and mix.
  4. In a large bowl sift together the dry ingredients; flour, unsweetened cocoa, salt and cayenne.
  5. Gently add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients in the mix. Set the mixer on low to combine ingredients. Do not over beat.
  6. Fold in the chocolate chips and coconut shreds then pour the brownie mix in to the pan.
  7. Bake for 25-30 minutes. Depending how well done you want your brownies you can bake for less time or more time. When you take the brownies out of the oven let them continue to cook in the pan for about 15 minutes.
  8. FROSTING: Melt 1/2 cup butter in a pan then add 2/3 cup of Florida Crystals raw organic brown sugar and stir. Add 3 tbsp of almond milk and bring mixture to a quick boil. Remove from heat and add 2 cups Florida Crystals raw organic powdered sugar and a tsp of your favorite extract.
  9. I made the brownies 3 ways. Brownie topped with powdered sugar Brownie topped with caramel sauce and roasted walnuts Brownie topped with frosting, coconut shreds and roasted walnuts
